Chatonbo AI Chatbot - LiveChat from the Israel-based developer Chatonbo launched on the Shopify App Store in May 2026. It adds an AI chatbot that acts as both sales assistant and support agent: it learns your catalog and store content, recommends products, answers order questions and passes the conversation to your team when needed. The same platform also runs on Wix, WordPress and WooCommerce, and according to the developer it uses GPT-5.4 by default, with Claude or Gemini as alternatives.
Key features
- Automatic catalog sync, with product recommendations showing images, prices and add-to-cart buttons inside the chat.
- Awareness of the product page a shopper is viewing, and configurable discount codes for hesitant or exit-intent visitors.
- Real-time order status lookups for “where is my order” questions.
- Replies in more than 50 languages, matched to the language the visitor writes in.
- A “Talk to a human” handoff to a real-time inbox with availability hours, plus an optional WhatsApp button.
- Lead capture, conversation analytics, webhooks and integrations with HubSpot, Zoho, Slack, Zapier and Make.
Pricing and trial
The Shopify listing shows three plans. Free includes one AI agent and up to 100 conversations a month, trained automatically on your store and products. Pro at $19/month ($194/year) adds full catalog sync, add-to-cart in chat, order status lookups and a second AI agent. Business at $59/month ($599/year) adds unlimited knowledge sources and team members, AI upsells and cross-sells and priority support. Paid plans include a 30-day free trial.
The listing does not show conversation limits for paid plans. The developer’s pricing page lists 5,000 conversations a month on Pro and 10,000 on Business, with no per-conversation or per-resolution fees, and promises that the bot keeps answering past the limit and that plans are never upgraded automatically. Pro is listed there with five knowledge sources and two team members, while the developer’s site says the Shopify free plan includes three knowledge sources. The two sources also differ on features: the developer’s site includes product recommendations and stock checks in Pro, while the listing places AI upsells and cross-sells in Business. Check the plan details on the approval screen before upgrading.
Rating and reviews
Chatonbo has 5.0 from 5 Shopify reviews, all five-star, posted between June and October 2026. Merchants praise a setup that takes minutes, automatic catalog sync and accurate answers to product questions; one says the recommendations have improved customer engagement. The reviews are short and were written after 14 hours to 15 days of use; one has no text, and two are worded almost identically. With no critical reviews yet, the rating says little about long-term reliability or how the AI handles difficult questions. The developer replied to several reviews within days and states on its pricing page that a person answers every support ticket, with a median first reply under seven hours.
Pitfalls
Chatonbo is a young app with a short track record. Use the trial to test real questions from your store: product comparisons, shipping and return policies, discount requests and handoffs to your team. The developer offers a built-in coverage test for checking answers before going live. If you let the bot offer discount codes, decide which codes it may use and monitor how often it hands them out.
Add-to-cart in chat and order lookups require Pro, so the free plan is mainly a test of answer quality. The admin is in English only. According to the listing, the app reads customer email addresses, IP addresses, geolocation and browser data, as well as products, customers and the last 60 days of orders, and it adds its widget through script tags. If customers often ask about older orders, check how lookups behave. If you sell in the EU, review the developer’s privacy policy and how the widget fits your cookie-consent setup.
Conclusion
Chatonbo is worth testing if you want an AI shopping assistant that sells from your catalog, answers order questions and hands off to a person, at a flat monthly price. Pro at $19/month is the practical tier for most stores. Because the app launched in May 2026 and has only five short reviews, treat the 30-day trial as the real evaluation.
