It’s been more than a month since we haven’t published an update about our favorite upsell app Candy Rack. We have been super busy with finishing our latest app called Gift Box (more details to be followed soon) but still managed to launch a few cool improvements for Candy Rack.
Overall we are happy with the app trajectory as we have close to 300 merchants and we helped to generate over $150 000 via upselling! We also continue to receive great feedback and ideas for improvement from our community. Our community and active merchants now include some of the big Shopify influencers like Matthew Lepre, Noah Tucker, or Hayden Bowles (cheers guys!).
1. Targeting Upsells per Price
Besides targeting specific product(s) and collection(s), you can now also target based on the price tiers. This is very useful if you are selling services based on the parent product type. For example, an extended warranty for $10 product will be cheaper than for $150 one.
Price targeting can be also combined with the other types of targeting and you will find it in the targeting section at the bottom of each offer.
2. Auto Upselling Based on Smart Recommendations (Shopify Plus only)
This is something we are extremely proud of and likely the first upsell app on the store to have something like this. You can simply turn on the Smart Recommendation Upsells and relevant products will be offered automatically based on the parent product. This is very useful for big stores with hundreds/thousands of different products which can’t set up each product upsells manually.
The recommended products are loaded from the Shopify Product Recommendation API which is using AI algorithm to return the most relevant product based on the descriptions and customer behavior.
Unfortunately, this feature is available only to Shopify Plus merchants. We would love to offer it to everyone, but the API is available only for the most premium accounts.
3. Removed Candy Rack Services From Storefront
This was quite a quick change but an important one. Many of the merchants have been asking us how to hide the Candy Rack created products like Gift Packaging or Extended Warranty from the All Products collection. We have implemented a simple solution, so none of these are visible to customers browsing your product catalog anymore.
This is done by adding an automatic filter to all store collections (product type is not equal to candyrack_generated).
4. Multiple Currency Support
Some of our merchants are selling internationally and supporting multiple currencies. Candy Rack is now fully compatible with currency conversion apps BEST Currency Converter (by Grizzly Apps) and Auto Currency Switcher (by MLVeda).
5. Dozens of Other Fixes
Besides the new features, we have also fixed dozens of design/layout glitches. Some of them reported by our merchants, some of them we found by ourselves. We have also improved the performance and script/pop-up load times.
What’s Coming Next?
We are currently working on the minor app redesign covering both the admin and storefront pop-up. Our goal is to simplify the app and make it even more attractive and easier to use.
And by the way, we also got our new app Gift Box approved and listed on the App Store. More details about it will follow soon.
