Shopify recently announced they plan to sunset their popular Product Reviews app. The app is no longer available on the app store and will likely stop working on May 6, 2024. Here's what you should do and what are some of the free alternatives.

Collecting and displaying customer reviews on your store is a well-known technique for gaining visitors' trust and increasing conversion. Sometimes, it is also called social proof. Shopify doesn't offer such feature natively; instead, they developed a popular free app from 2010.

According to Store Leads data, the app was most popular in its segment, having over 0.5 million installs. Followed by the Judge.me app with almost 300k installs.

Judge.me is probably the most notorious alternative. The free plan has no limitation in terms of number of reviews. The premium plan is only $15 monthly if you want more features. The only drawback from our point of view is the UI and widgets, which could look better to match today's e-commerce standards.

Exporting reviews from the Product Reviews app

Getting your existing reviews from the Product Reviews app is really easy; just follow these steps:

1. Go to your store admin > Settings > Apps and sales channels > Product Reviews > Open app
2. In the app, go to Settings and click on Export

Once you download the export in CSV file, you can import it to the new app of your choice. The app support team will gladly assist you if you need any help.
