There are many solutions for selling and managing subscriptions on Shopify, but Smartrr is definitely in the top tier when it comes to reliability and user experience. What we really like is the thoughtful onboarding that offers using a demo subscription program on a demo product. So, in a few clicks you can see how the app works on your store (preview) without the need of actually setting some subscription logic and products.
The company is claiming they are focusing on empowering the customer (i.e., subscriber). And they really do that. The customer portal is top-notch and gives customers great overview and control over their subscriptions. If you are serious about subscriptions, retaining the customer is key, and you can't do well without a solid customer portal.
Besides offering the "standard" "subscribe and save" method, Smartrr also offers advanced feature called build-a-box. Customers can select what products they want in their subscription package. This feature comes in the top plan called Excel for $499 / month + 1% subscription GMV. Same as the loyalty tools like rewards and referrals.
The entry plan called Launch is $99 per month + 1% subscription GMV and gives everything you need to run a subscription business. It's more expensive compared to some other solutions we reviewed, but the price comes with a high product quality and customer support. The support by the way is often praised in the app reviews which are phenomenal – only a single 4-star and the rest are all 5-star.
