GenLook

A multilingual AI virtual try-on for Shopify with a free plan, funnel analytics, email capture, and a creative Studio.

See on App Store

GenLook adds a virtual try-on button to Shopify product pages. A shopper uploads a photo and the AI generates an image showing the selected garment on that person. The app is Built for Shopify and stands out for its free entry point, broad language support, and detailed privacy documentation. It helps shoppers visualize style, but it is not a size recommender or a guarantee of real-world fit.

Key features

Standard setup uses a theme app embed and does not require manual code changes. Merchants select the enabled products or collections, then adapt the button and widget to their branding.

  • AI virtual try-on: shoppers upload a photo and receive a visualization of the selected product.
  • Customization: the widget supports editable text, colors, images, variants, branding, and responsive display.
  • Funnel analytics: the dashboard tracks impressions, opens, uploads, generations, add-to-cart actions, and attributed orders.
  • Email capture: GenLook can request an email with separate marketing consent and create native Shopify customer segments.
  • Marketing integrations: Shopify segments can work with Klaviyo, Shopify Email, Mailchimp, Omnisend, Privy, Yotpo, and other tools connected to Shopify Customers.
  • GenLook Studio: merchants can generate additional catalog and campaign imagery from product and model photos.

The Shopify listing names more than 40 supported languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, and Czech. That is a practical advantage for international stores.

Pricing and trial information

The Preview plan is free and includes 10 try-ons per month plus a customizable widget. Starter costs $19.99 per month for 100 try-ons, then $0.17 per additional use. It adds analytics, customer email collection, and standard support. Growth costs $29 for 250 try-ons, then $0.12 per use, with advanced analytics. Pro costs $99 for 1,000 generations, then $0.10 per generation. It also removes GenLook branding and includes VIP support.

The official listing does not show a separate trial for paid plans. The free plan serves as the practical test, although 10 generations are not many for evaluating several product types, photos, and devices thoroughly.

Rating and reviews

At the time of review, GenLook has a 5.0 rating from 35 Shopify reviews, all of them five stars. Several recent reviews come from merchants after two to five months of use. Common themes include simple installation, strong perceived output even with complex garments, and responsive support.

That is more useful evidence than reviews submitted immediately after installation, but the sample is still moderate. It does not independently prove higher conversion or fewer returns. The merchant's own funnel and order data remain the best basis for that decision.

Pitfalls

Output depends on the pose, lighting, shopper photo, and product image. One merchant comment published on the developer's site warns that the AI can change apparent body shape, which may make clothing look more flattering than it would fit in practice. GenLook therefore does not replace a size chart or reliable measurements, and AI size recommendations are still marked as coming soon in the documentation. The free allowance is narrow, costs rise with use, and removing GenLook branding requires the $99 Pro plan. The app accesses customers, products, recent orders, the theme, and files. On the positive side, its privacy policies state that photos and results are deleted within seven days at most, unprocessed originals within one day, nothing is used for model training, and merchants cannot view shopper images. Shoppers can also delete their data immediately in the widget. Processing may occur through Google Cloud or Comfy Cloud outside the EU, and merchants remain responsible for consent and their own privacy notices. This is not legal advice.

Conclusion

GenLook is a good fit for fashion brands that want to test virtual try-on without a commitment, across multiple languages, and with clearly documented privacy safeguards. I would begin with representative products, complex patterns, and different body types, then measure the path to cart and order. As usage grows, compare attributed revenue with the actual credit cost. Stores that need accurate size prediction or inexpensive removal of app branding should look elsewhere.

Pros

  • Built for Shopify, a free plan, and support for more than 40 languages
  • Funnel analytics, email capture, and native Shopify customer segments
  • AI Studio for marketing imagery in addition to shopper try-on
  • Detailed privacy rules with rapid deletion and no AI training

cons

  • Only 10 monthly try-ons on the free plan
  • Usage-based costs and branding removal limited to Pro
  • The visualization does not predict size or real fit
